Accountability
The Aminata Maternal Foundation is committed to providing full transparency to our donors, no matter the size of the donation. Every single dollar counts towards ending preventable maternal and infant mortality.
Our mission is to support short-term, mid-term and long-term improvements in maternal healthcare outcomes for girls and women in Sierra Leone, which has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in the world: 28% of girls between the ages of 15-19 have children (UNFPA, 2019).
The country is in dire need of support to educate, provide pre and post-natal care and future pathways to ensure the health and state of the population.
Approach
We work with our partners at the Aberdeen Women’s Centre in Sierra Leone to provide services to women, girls and children. Many of these girls and women face social and economic problems and the Aberdeen Women’s Centre provides support to reintegrate them to their communities post-delivery.
The girls gain access to quality health care, and participate in a range of activities provided by on-site teaching staff, focusing on:
- Social awareness
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Health education
Main Goal
“To transform the lives of young girls and women through education and empowerment at the most vulnerable moments in their lives, both economically and emotionally, through rebuilding their self-esteem and confidence.”
The Aminata Maternal Foundation is committed to raising sustainable revenue to fund these outcomes and work with Sierra Leone by providing them with resources to build a sustainable life.
Right now, more than ever, our work is vital and we are looking to build partnerships with organisations, and relationships with people who truly care about our mission to support mothers and babies.
