This is not just an event; it’s a joyous celebration that connects Africa to Australia, whilst uplifting the spirit of giving back. Last year was a phenomenal success! We raised over $185,000 with the support of our generous sponsors and more than 300 attendees!

Why Bluff and Swagger

Aminata Maternal Foundation’s Bluff and Swagger Gala is a showcase of African lifestyle and the contagious celebration and joyful spirit of Shout ‘Gladi Gladi’, in celebration of women overcoming adversity and celebrating their strength and resilience through fashion.

Our drummers set the rhythm for the soulful event, bringing and building a bridge from the continent of Africa to Australia and at the same time shining a light on the importance of “making birth safe NOW and for the FUTURE” through the incredible work of the Aminata Maternal Foundation.

This major fundraising event intends to support teenage mothers in Sierra Leone through the Dream Team Project.

The Dream Team Project

Aberdeen Graduation

This year, we’re aiming to raise $250,000, funds raised on the night could support 695 teenage mothers through our Dream Team Project.

The Dream Team Project is the only educational program that exists in the country. We believe that no one should be left behind despite their story.

Sierra Leone has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in the world with 66%, occurring among teenagers aged 12 to 17. The young mothers and their babies benefit from this program through the three main aspects of support:

  • Health, Education, and Parenting Support
  • Counselling Services
  • Skills Training

Your generous contribution would transform the lives of teenage mothers, which will make a positive impact not only on them but also their children and communities at large.

Our overall goal is to provide emotional and practical support to help them sustain the reality of life as a first-time teenage mother. We believe, that through education and empowerment, they can rebuild their self-esteem and confidence by teaching them new skills and allowing them to thrive in a safe space with peers.

Every year, over 300 teenage mothers and their babies are supported by The Dream Team Project, and we are aiming to support more girls by raising more funds.

This extraordinary event will not be possible without the support of our incredible sponsors!
