This year has been a remarkable one for the Aminata Maternal Foundation as we held two major events that brought our community together to advance our mission of improving maternal health and empowering mothers in Sierra Leone.
Bluff and Swagger Gala Ball
Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, the event raised an incredible $286,680, surpassing our $250,000 goal. These funds are now changing lives by supporting 560 teenage mothers in the Dream Girls Program.
In June, we brought the heartbeat of Africa to Australia through the Bluff and Swagger Gala Ball. With over 300 passionate attendees, the evening was a vibrant showcase of African culture, blending music, art, and connection to unite two worlds for a shared cause.

First Breath Walk
Together, we raised $26,862, enough to ensure 100 babies take their precious First Breath through safe deliveries, supported by comprehensive pre- and postnatal care.
Last November, we took significant strides—both literally and figuratively—with the First Breath Walk, held in both Sydney and Melbourne for the first time. Participants walked an inspiring 13 kilometers to symbolize the journey many mothers take to access safe maternal care in Sierra Leone. Others supported the cause by fundraising and donating.
This event also amplified awareness of the struggles faced by expectant mothers in Sierra Leone, where limited access to antenatal care and diagnostic services can make childbirth perilous. By highlighting the universal significance of a baby’s First Breath and other life milestones, we strengthened the bond between communities, near and far.

Looking Ahead
The success of these events underscores the incredible power of community and compassion. Together, we are making steps toward ending maternal and infant mortality in Sierra Leone. As we reflect on these achievements, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who participated, donated, and supported our mission.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s continue to create change, one breath and one life at a time.
